A Fast Efficient Method To Determine the Presence of Nitrosamines in Cosmetics, Personal Care and Consumer Products

N-nitrosamines are a class of compounds that have been shown to exhibit carcinogenic and mutagenic effects in animal models at several different tissue sites and by several different routes of exposure. Nitrosamines can potentially be formed in consumer products, cosmetics and personal care formulations, either during manufacture or product storage. Analysis of cosmetic, personal care and consumer products for nitrosamine content should be included in Product Safety Assessments to ensure compliance with the new Cosmetic and Consumer Products Regulations.

Understanding Solvents in Chromatography Systems

Chromatography is a technique used to separate and analyze complex mixtures of compounds. The separation process depends on the different affinities of the compounds for a stationary phase and a mobile phase. The stationary phase is usually a solid or a liquid coating on a solid support, while the mobile phase is usually a liquid or a gas.

Role of Acidulant and pH in Food Safety

Acidulants such as acetic, adipic, citric, fumaric, lactic, malic, phosphoric, tartaric acids, and glucono-delta-lactone are commonly used as food additives in processed foods and beverages. They are used for leavening functions in baked goods, control gel formation, and maintaining the viscosity of confections and gelatin desserts.

Enhanced Small Particle Detection With Spectral Flow Cytometry Systems

There is a great deal of interest in characterizing small particles such as bacteria, extracellular vesicles, and viruses by flow cytometry. The common availability, as well as the multiparameter and high throughput capabilities of flow cytometry, make this technology attractive for measuring small particles. However, many of the flow cytometers currently being used are not able to detect biological particles smaller than 600nm, in fact very few can detect biological particles 300nm or less.
