The partnership between DKSH and a leading research institute for environmental protection in Vietnam exemplifies the importance of developing sustainable and environmentally safe materials for environmental protection, a critical concern in today’s world.

Our customer is a research institute under the Department of Defense in Vietnam, dedicated to pioneering advancements in sustainability and green initiatives for national defense and economic projects. The institute focuses on researching, designing, constructing, and deploying pollution treatment technologies for exhaust gas, wastewater, solid waste, and hazardous waste. They also develop new sustainable and safe materials for environmental remediation and protection.

Challenge

The institute faced significant challenges that hampered their research and development efficiency. They had to outsource research materials to external facilities for testing, resulting in prolonged waiting periods and increased costs, with results typically taking two weeks to a month. This lag caused major project delays.

Additionally, if the materials failed to meet the required standards, the entire research and testing cycle had to be repeated, causing further delays and additional expenses. This repetitive and inefficient process consumed substantial time and resources, limiting the institute’s capacity to conduct timely and effective research.

Approach

To address these issues, we offered the research team a comprehensive package of solutions, including advanced analytical instruments and a 3D printing machine, enabling them to perform testing and prototyping directly onsite at their facility.

The solutions included Malvern Panalytical’s Aeris which analyzes the structural composition of materials, Malvern Panalytical’s Zetasizer which measures the zeta potential of materials, Bigrep’s 3D printer that allows for onsite printing of research materials, and Buchi’s Extraction Model E914 that enhances material extraction processes.

Our solutions encompass pre-and post-sales services, including consultations to understand their specific needs, proposing tailored solutions, providing extensive training, and ensuring ongoing support. This holistic approach ensured that the team could fully leverage the new equipment, enhancing their research capabilities and operational efficiency. This made our customers’ testing processes as efficient as possible, saving them both time and money.

Result

By integrating these technologies, they have eliminated the need for time-consuming external sample submissions, significantly optimizing their research and development timeline. The ability to test materials onsite has streamlined their workflow, reducing delays and costs associated with external testing.

The outcome aids in addressing cost-effective investment challenges, leading to increased confidence in researching, developing, manufacturing, and delivering products to the market. They have significantly reduced the time and costs associated with their research and development processes.

Additionally, this has positioned the research institute for future success in environmental protection and sustainable material development. By providing state-of-the-art technology, we played an important role in advancing environmental research in Vietnam, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

This newfound efficiency has boosted their confidence in researching, developing, manufacturing, and delivering innovative products to the market.
