Inspiring Vietnam’s Science, Technology, and Research Students With the Latest Research Facilities
DKSH’s laboratory solutions helped students at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and Phenikaa University to keep pace with the latest research solutions and activities taking place around the world.
The University of Science and Technology of Hanoi is an ambitious higher education project between the French government and Vietnam bringing together 40 French universities and research institutes in training and research. It offers an international learning environment and French-accredited training programs in science and technology.
Phenikaa University applies high-quality research and teaching as the foundation for development and connects lectures with scientific research. The university aims to be ranked among Asia’s top 100 universities within the next two decades.

Challenge
Phenikaa University was facing an increasing demand from students for their research activities, experiments, and demonstrations to test lab samples. In addition, most students had to spend a lot of time sourcing funds for their research activities when using external services for sample testing. They were also looking for more instruments and general equipment that can provide more accurate results in a shorter time and at a reduced cost for their research and teaching activities.
Meanwhile, USTH’s life-sciences faculty needed more modern scientific equipment to measure nutritional values and analyze amino acids in ensuring nutritional quality. They also required advanced equipment that could analyze complex ingredients in animal feed, especially in the food industry.
They were looking to add more cutting-edge equipment for the other faculties including Space and Applications, Water, Environment, and Oceanography, and Applied Science. Among the solutions include equipment that allows simultaneous collection of standard and actual sample spectra outdoors, reliable and easy-to-use instrument for particle size analysis that could be used in both wet and dry dispersion analysis, and equipment to analyze and integrate a variety of measuring accessories, spheres for spectroscopy, and scatter reflection.
Approach
We opened a new DKSH Demo Lab at Phenikaa University featuring advanced technologies and analysis equipment from leading brands such as Agilent, Malvern, PANalytical, bioMérieux, Buchi, Leica, Rudolph, and Lauda.
We also provided the university with 24 cutting-edge demo instruments that will be alternatively transported between another DKSH lab in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi every two months.
USTH’s Life-sciences faculty was fitted with the Biochrom 32+ Oxidised Protein Hydrolysate system, designed for the analysis of complex oxidized hydrolysates such as those obtained from food and feedstuffs. With this instrument, limiting amino acids such as lysine, threonine, cystine, and methionine may be rapidly identified to enable adjustments to the formulation of research.
To meet the demand of the Space and Applications faculty, we supplied the ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res spectrometer that allows spectra collection outdoors and can be used in many industrial applications, including plant physiology, sensor calibration, spectroradiometer and radiometric calibration, remote sensing, and geology.
For the Water, Environment and Oceanography faculty, the Mastersizer 3000 is one of the world’s leading particle-size analyzers. Finally, the Applied Science faculty was equipped with the Cary 6000 UV-Vis-NIR molecular spectroscopy system which is a high-performance UV-Visible-NIR spectrophotometer.
Result
Students now have the opportunity to be exposed to high-quality research equipment. By using our solutions and instruments, experts, teachers, and students in both universities can increase the productivity of their experiments, save time, and ease the overall testing demand in education programs.
The well-equipped labs and advanced instruments are also made accessible to other students from nearby localities in Vietnam.
The general types of equipment and instruments provided by DKSH are always high quality and come with perfect after-sale services from world-leading scientific instrumentation manufacturers. We are pleased to see our experiments performed by our experts and students with DKSH’s cutting-edge equipment that is cost-saving and produces more accurate results in less time.

The DKSH Demo Lab was invested with a lot of research equipment in various fields such as energy, pharmacy, biological technology, food technology, and chemistry. It will operate like an open laboratory (register-operation) so that lecturers, scientists, and students, as well as the ones from universities, research institutes, and other enterprises in Hanoi and nearby localities, can have a chance to exploit the high-end instruments from the world leading brands and use them for research activities.
