Advanced Cold Chain Solutions Keeps World-Class Research University Going in Singapore
The National University of Singapore (NUS) turned to DKSH for a variety of cold chain equipment and solutions to ensure secure and stable culture sample storage conditions at its research facilities.

Challenge
Our customer required a stable culture environment for the storage and maintenance of the in vitro culture of cells, viruses, and tissues at its research laboratories. Their previous equipment needed to be replaced as they had high energy consumption and did not perform as efficiently and effectively as required.
Approach
After our initial study of the university’s requirements, we recommended Haier Biomedical’s solutions as they were best suited for our customer’s operating environment and research needs. The Haier Biomedical -150°C Cryo Freezer uses a self-regulating pressure control system to ensure a stable internal pressure environment for the refrigeration system.
The freezer saves up to 30 percent on energy consumption and protects the environment through the usage of hydrocarbon refrigerants. It can adapt to a wide range of ambient temperatures from 10°C to 32°C resulting in better stability. It is also suitable for use in labs with a noise level down to 55dB, it provides users with a more harmonious working experience.
We also supplied our customer with the Haier Biomedical CO₂ Incubator featuring precise temperature control, rapid temperature return, real-time monitoring, and multiple alarms to create a stable cell and virus culture environment for researchers.
Result
Our customer was able to achieve its intended targets in research stability and faster turnaround as compared to its previous equipment. They were also pleased with the additional cost savings from the equipment’s lower energy consumption and better care for the environment.
