Modular COVID-19 Testing Booths Help Thai Hospitals Reach More People During Pandemic
The swift establishment of modular COVID-19 testing booths helped hospitals to keep check of the pandemic’s reach in the cities and remote areas of Thailand.
As the number of cases increased in Thailand, the demand for COVID-19 testing also escalated. Hospitals located in city centers were strained as they tried to cater to the increased demand for testing. Healthcare officials were also seeking out more effective ways to extend testing facilities to residents living in remote areas and difficult to reach places.
Challenge
The testing rate from remote neighborhoods was low because residents were often required to endure a long commute to hospitals located in the city center to undergo testing and receive the test result.
A leading public hospital in Thailand came up with the idea of setting up modular testing booths to bring testing services to residents living in remote areas.
Approach
Working closely with the hospital, DKSH proceeded to supply and instalthe modular COVID-19 testing booths in these remote locations.
With our knowledge and expertise of the testing processes, DKSH managed the entire project scope: sourcing for builders for the boots, designing the workflow, planning the layout, installing the equipment, and providing training for the after-sales services. The modular booths comprised of four rooms: sample collection room, extraction room, master mix preparation room, and amplification room.
We also provide integrated testing solutions including the instruments, consumables, and reagents all within a week after being commissioned for the project. The equipment and solutions we provided include a real-time PCR instrument, microplate shaker, microcentrifuge, pipette and tips, extraction kits, and automated nucleic acid extractor.
Result
Using these modular testing booths, hospitals can now serve residents living in remote areas and this also helps authorities to ease the overall testing demand for the market’s population.
Because of the modular booths that helped streamlined the testing process, test results were available to the patient between 30 minutes to one hour.
