The Khoo Teck Puat–National University Children’s Medical Institute (KTP-NUCMI) provides comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents across a full range of specialties at the National University Hospital.
As the principal teaching facility of the Department of Paediatrics, KTP-NUCMI is also the primary institution for paediatric medical education in Singapore. Apart from providing undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in paediatrics to doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals, it is also committed to advancing paediatric scientific research in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region.
Challenge
Our customer was sourcing laboratory equipment that was in accordance with the international standards of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). They also required a business partner who was able to help elevate their lab practices, techniques, and procedures.
The research center was keen to provide a safer and healthier environment in the labs. They also needed to reduce the risk of exposure to hazardous agents for researchers and students.
Approach
As they were already using Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) from an existing supplier, we focused on showcasing the benefits of Corning FBS solutions. The primary use of FBS is as a supplement for in vitro cell culture. Corning’s premium FBS is collected from government-approved abattoirs in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
To convince NUH of DKSH’s capabilities, we presented competitive pricing for the FBS solutions and ensured them that we have ready-available FBS supplies. This reduces the waiting time while reducing freight costs and speeds up delivery time to our customer.
Result
By managing to win over NUH with our quality services and proven products, we were able to support NUH in continuing to provide quality paediatric research and services to the market.
